2) Interlacing fill
1. Create a new image in Photo-Paint, make it 24-bit RGB, white background and 10 pixelsW x10 pixelsH.01
2. Change the Zoom level to 400% or 500% or more and turn your rulers on (View/ rulers/ double click a ruler to change its measurement to pixels if you need to).
3. Choose the colour you want the lines to be by left-clicking on a palette swatch to change the paint colour.
4. Select the Brush tool and then choose Pixel Brush from the drop down list on th Property bar. Make sure the width is 1 pixel.
5. Hold down the CTRL key to constrain your brush stroke horizontally, then paint horizontal strokes at heights of 1,3,5,7 and 9 pixels from the ruler across the image.02
You should now have a square with five equally-spaced horizontal lines on it with a blank line at the bottom. Save as CPT file now so you can make more later if you want (see below)
6. Now convert your image to 8-bit Paletted mode.
I use Optimazed palette. It should automatically give you just two colours (check with the last tab on the GIF dialogue box while you are in it).
7. Save your image as a GIF with no transparency.
That's it.
If later you want to create a different coloured one, open the CPT file and do:
Image/ Adjust/ Replace colour and change the line colour to another then convert GIF and save as GIF again.
You can use these in Table backgrounds and Table Cell backgrounds as well as the full web page background.
You can also tell P-P to use this image as a Fill so you create TV lines etc.
(Make a rectangle over an image and then fill it with one of these, then change the merge mode of this filled object in the Object Docker try different ones!)
Enjoy!
