For best results, scan the original image at 200 percent of the final
desired size with a 300 dpi resolution.
Save the image on HardDisk at 96 dpi, monitor's resolution, to work better
and to remove the moirè that always exists when one scans from magazines
(see below). |

A free staircase implies the removal of girl, the rebuilding of parapet
and of wall areas on the background and the correction of all the shadows
that woman creates on stairs.
To adjust the photo on the whole, apply some filters (see below the configuration
used for this photo):
Contrast Enhancement (Image/Adjust);
Selective colour (Image/Adjust); |
|
Brightness/Contrast/Intensity (Image/Adjust);
Unsharp Mask (Effects/Sharpen/Unsharp Mask); |
|
1 figure: on left the modified image, on right original image;
2 figure: create a new framing with Crop tool. |
|
Remove the steps' shadows:
create the duplicate of a step by reptangle mask;
create as many duplicates of this new object as steps;
place every duplicate on its step;
adjust object to underneath steps by eraser and clone tools, but don't let
show areas that have to be hide. |
|
| If need, create more duplicates to place under the other ones to fill
possible missing areas (steps are different concerning height); |
|
Staircase:
mask another similar and visible area of staircase; create a duplicate and
place it in its new position; apply a Merge Mode to duplicate to show the
underneath image;
adjust, by handles, the skew angle of parapet to place it exactly over original
image;
back to Merge Mode Normal.
Wall:
rebuilding the missing areas in the same way.
Look at below (left) to see all pieces used to modify the photo.
For a convenient working, it's a prerequisite condition to keep
apart objects' layers as long as one brings all operations to
a close: infact, this situation allow to use eraser tool on layers one for
one to a total, reciprocal permeation.
Perfect the work with clone tool.
That's all!(see: tutorial n 6
