To apply a text to a path, first of all, we need to create a path:
select
the Path tool on objects' flyout on Tools Bar;
click on the work window where we want the path to begin;
move the cursor to the point at which we want the path to end and click
again;
at this point we have a straight line (we can align the text to it) that
can become, if we want, a curve line:
with the path tool still selected, click the Shape tool on the property
bar (see at right) and enable the Make Curve Node Button on the same property
bar (the sign ahead of plus);
drag the handles with cursor to make curves;
if we want more curves, we can add other anchor points on the right places
on the path, every click on plus sign is a new anchor point; add
or select the text and choose Object/Text/Fit text to path (CTRL+ALT+F);
the cursor changes shape (see below) and add a letter 'A' when it is near
the path;
click the path where we want the text to begin (first letter in the left
side) |
|
if we click a point of our path that is too near to the path's end, all
letters of the text will fit on the limited space remaining on the path;
when we use the text on path mode, we have its property bar where we can
choose the best setting about, in addition to usual formatting, text orientation,
vertical placement, text placement, distance from path, horizontal offset
and place on other side button that place the text on the other side of
the path; |
 |
once the text is linked to the path, it is interactively linked, that
is, any changes to the path are reflected in the text and if the shape of
the path changes, the text follows the new path and if we delete the path,
the text will be deleted as well;
so, if we want an unvisible path, we can:
1. unable the visibility button on the path window (see below) and this
modality lets us to change the path in the future, if we'll want it; |
|
2. render the text as object and delete the path;
now the text is no longer linked to the path and it is an object;
at this point, text can no longer be edited like text but only like object. |
